Spotlight on Social Work: Kate McCalman, PLMSWPosted on 3/28/2018
Kate McCalman joined the LRCMHC team in the early part of 2018. She primarily works as at therapist at our Pinnacle House adult day treatment program. Kate earned her Bachelors in Psychology from Arkansas Tech University and her Masters of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.
“I entered this field because it combines my passion, purpose, and skills,” stated Kate. “Mental health and people are fascinating to me. I want to help empower others, and I am skilled in empathy and listening.”
Kate loves working in community mental health with adults who have a severe mental illness, including those experiencing homelessness or who are at-risk. When talking about her work in the field, Kate said, “I find myself inspired by the tremendous amount of work and insight clients have. I learn from my clients and am so proud of their efforts every day.”
Kate is originally from Conway, but she now lives in Little Rock. In her time away from LRCMHC, Kate loves spending time reading, hiking, and baking.
