Spotlight on Social Work: Butch Gilliam, LMSWPosted on 3/10/2018
March is National Social Work Month. Throughout the month, Little Rock Community Mental Health Center will be featuring members from our social work team across the web and social media.
Butch Gilliam is one of the newer additions to the LRCMHC team. Originally from Marmaduke, Arkansas, Butch was influenced to get into social work by his grandmother who was a nurse. He attributes his compassionate spirit and calm demeanor to her influence on his life. “Her ability to remain calm in the face of adversity always resonated with me,” stated Butch.
Butch describes himself as passionate about working with diverse adult populations and addressing the needs of our communities. “I love coming to work every day and interacting with such great clients," said Butch when talking about his work at LRCMHC. "Watching our clients overcome obstacles and achieve growth is so rewarding and satisfying.”
In his private time, Butch enjoys playing the guitar, spending time with his family, and giving back to the community. He also looks forward to his annual canoe trip in Northwest Arkansas and Missouri.
